Put-in-Bay is a great destination and you can add watercraft recreation to your vacation plans easily. Everyone needs to read this part and groups need to also read at the bottom of the page.
1. If you were born after 1/1/1982, you must possess an Ohio Boaters Safety Card (which can be obtained at https://www.boat-ed.com/ohio/), or pass a 10-question multiple-choice quiz with 90% correct answers to pass. The quiz and the required 15-minute study guide is free.
Taking the quiz online is more difficult and usually costs money. But it is a permanent license. Getting it will save time every time you come! Here is the link to take the tes ahead of time online: https://www.boat-ed.com/ohio/

2. IF you consume ANY alcoholic beverages the day of the rental, or
Do not follow ANY ONE of the 3 simple safety rules,
Your rental is over without refund and your deposit is lost.

If you “chicken out after you do the testing and/or paperwork there is no refund.

SAFETY RULE #1- You must not flip the jet ski. The main two ways of flipping are sharp turns or going too slowly. 3MPH to the riding area then at LEAST 10mph the whole time. No falling off- have fun but don’t be reckless! If you flip the machine, do not try to restart it. You will ruin the machine and have be responsible for replacement value which is about 7 thousand dollars!
SAFETY RULE #2- You must stay 300′ from everything on the water the whole time (other jet skis, kayaks, land, the dock, other boars, etc)
SAFETY RULE #3- You must stay within the designated riding area the whole time. A map is shown, basically the visible area in front of the booth- about 2 square miles.

This will surely be a time to remember for always so remember to take bring your cameras, but make sure to leave them on shore because you are going to get wet from the spray!

 

GROUPS: If you have 4 or more in your group there are some things you need to also be aware of.

  1. At some point all the group will likely be on the water at the same time, regardless of start time. Remember the 300′ rule. If anyone in your group comes close to anything including your friends, the ride is over for the whole group without refund!
  2. Don’t let one of your group show up late or break rules. It will only ruin everybody’s good time.
